Alexander, in addition to his artistic experience, also relies on the tools of his other work, passions, and studies:

As a certified Mindfulness MBSR teacher in training.

As a masseur therapist of classical and Shiatsu techniques.

As creator of his own method, personal growth training. "CUERPO PRESENTE:The inner Beast"

And as a facilitator and organizer of healing retreats and shamanism of Latin American indigenous traditions.

As proffesional artist: coreographer, dancer, creator, performer and producer.

Alexander Carrillo is a Colombian based in Berlin, a lover of imaginary worlds & queer artist, who faithfully believes that life is a journey. His work goes into social and educational issues related to gender, identity, culture, and transformation. Since 2006 Alexander has developed his own artistic research, and pedagogical method: CUERPO PRESENTE: The Inner Beast, strategies for body awareness and personal growth. Since 2012 has emerged in the knowledge of ancestral cultures and other methods of communication, social development and listening. He has been certified in MBSR ("Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction") by the Medicine School of Massachusetts and works with the GIZ, The German Society for International peace programs. . Carrillo also  develops through meditation specific methods for body development and communication, complemented with his artistic knowledge such as choreographer, dancer and body techniques. Alexander explores the body from different perspectives of contemporary dance techniques and emotional states.

As a support, a background in Colombian Folklore and Afro-contemporary. Creative techniques (awareness, improvisation, and composition). Theatre, Qigong and Kung Fu. Alexander has taught ‘CUERPO PRESENTE: The Inner Beast’ since 2012 in Belgium, Spain, Taiwan, Venezuela, Greece, Albania, Colombia, Mexico, and Germany.

He is also a researcher, teacher, producer and works with healing practices. He studied at the Folkwang University in Germany, an Erasmus at 'ArtEZ', in the Netherlands, and at the ASAB University of Art in Colombia, (MA – emphasis on contemporary dance). As an artist his research focuses on the grotesque and ugly of the human being, seeing it as a mirror of reality. Studying the role of the audience, the influence of indigenous traditions in Western society, and the body as the interface between norms, sexuality, and spirituality. He is inquiring into the personal, and political through an interdisciplinary approach. He has been an artist resident of DOCK11 Berlin since 2015, among many others and has collaborated with artists over the world.
